List of Nokia Phones Expected to Launch at MWC 2018

MWC 2018 is about a month away and the rumour-mill is going strong with news and rumours of several new Nokia phones expected to be announced. The very first Nokia phones by HMD Global were announced back in MWC 2017 last year, and we expect a big presence from Nokia this year with many new products.

We have compiled a list of Nokia phones we think will be launching at MWC 2018. Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry, organized by the GSMA and held in Barcelona,  from Feb. 26 till Mar. 1 2018. A day before MWC kicks off, Nokia / HMD Global has a slot reserved all to itself for the new announcements. Press invites have already been sent out!

Nokia at MWC 2018 - Invitation

So let’s begin with our list of Nokia phones we think will get launched next month.

Nokia 1

This is the rumoured low-cost Nokia 1 phone with Android Go (Oreo Edition) on it. It has been leaked before and is expected to be announced by HMD Global next month for a few selected markets. This phone will be priced significantly lower than the $100 price point as HMD Global already has Nokia 2 at the price range.

Nokia 1 will feature entry-level hardware with Android optimized to run on low resources aka Android Go.

Nokia 3 2018 (2nd Gen.)

A refresh to the original Nokia 3 could make an appearance at the MWC 2018 as it was first launched last year at this same event. Since the first Nokia 3 is powered by a MediaTek processor, we expect to see a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor in the second generation and some updated internal specs.

Nokia 5 2018 (2nd Gen.)

Another likely update we could see is Nokia 5 2018 (2nd Gen.). This will more likely happen if HMD Global decides to refresh all three models from last year. There are no rumours or any news surrounding the Nokia 3 or Nokia 5 yet, but we will have to wait and see.

Nokia 6 2018 (2nd Gen.)

As we all know, Nokia 6 (2018) has already been made official and launched. However, it is only available in China as of now. At MWC 2018, HMD Global is expected to announce this phone for the global market and there is a tad bit chance, they might offer slightly different tech specs.

Nokia 6 (2018) is powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB RAM, slightly updated 16 megapixels camera, USB Type-C and fast charging!

Nokia 7

Nokia 7 (White)

This is another Nokia phone that has only been launched in China. It never made it to the global / international market. MWC 2018 looks like the perfect time to bring this phone to the rest of the world. Nokia 7 features similar tech specs as the Nokia 6 2018: Snapdragon 630, 5.2-inch display screen, 4GB / 6GB RAM, 64GB storage and Nokia OZO technology.

Note – Android Oreo was just recently released for the Nokia 7 in China.

Nokia 9

Nokia 9 is rumoured to be the flagship of the year by Nokia / HMD Global. It is rumoured to feature high-end tech specs and a much better bezel-less design. This phone will also have a dual-lens camera module like in the Nokia 8 and is expected to drop the 3.5mm audio slot — instead we will have to use USB-C or Bluetooth wireless headphones. At the storage end, Nokia 9 may come with 6GB or 8GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage.

We are really excited and look forward to MWC 2018 where HMD Global will kickoff the event with the announcement of their new lineup. And just to add, Samsung is expected to announce their new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus the same day. 25th February will be a day to mark down on our calendar!

This wraps up our list of all the Nokia phones we think could launch next month at the MWC 2018. The phones most likely to appear at the event are: Nokia 9, Nokia 6 2018 and Nokia 1. As for the rest, there are no rumours or news yet about them so there is a thin chance they might launch.
