Nokia 3 Android O Software Update Confirmed

We now have a tweet from a Nokia Mobile / HMD Global official on Nokia 3 receiving Android O update. At MWC 2017 which was held in Barcelona, HMD revealed their Nokia smartphones running Android 7.0 Nougat. HMD also claimed that their phones will be different from others in terms of software support for their entire range of Nokia phones. HMD assured that Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will get regular updates and now, they are keeping their promise.

Indeed, even their lowest budget smartphone Nokia 3 runs the latest Android 7.0 and also Nokia 3 got the July security update. Now, HMD is expected to roll Android 7.1.1 update on MediaTek devices. HMD also promised that all of their smartphones (3, 5 and 6) will receive “Android O” as they promised of giving software support for two years according to the reports from TechRadar.

Android O on Nokia 3

Recently, it was confirmed via Twitter that Nokia’s most affordable Android phone will also get the Android O which is considered to be Android 8 once it is released, obviously. This a great achievement for HMD as they are also giving the best experience to their low-end devices as compared to other manufacturers who ignore these kind of updates to their low-priced devices.

The following tweet is our confirmation that Nokia 3 will indeed receive the upcoming Android 8.0 / Android O software update. When? Only HMD Global can tell, but obviously that will be after its launch later this month.

This is all in line with HMD Global’s promise of updating their Android phones regularly with the latest Android updates, not once, but for the next two years!

Aside from the Android O to be received by Nokia 3, 5 and 6, it looks like Nokia is currently testing Android O on the rumoured Nokia 8 phone. If that is true, then we are guessing this new Nokia Android phone will be running on Android O out of the box — and are super excited for that already!

  1. There is no official statement from hmdglobal. re. oreo.
If they were truly committed they would have made one.
With out it how can they possibly be believed ?
They are just like all the other vendors, all talk, rumours and hearsay.
Twitter isn’t an official statement, it’s a sales tool.
