As per Google, we now have an official release timeline for Nokia phones Android 8.0 Oreo update. Android 8.0 was just launched yesterday, and the next big question on our mind is – when are the Nokia phones getting Android Oreo? Well, it is safe to say that we are still a couple of months away from the Oreo update on Nokia phones.
Android 8.0 Oreo brings several new features to Android. Nothing major on the UI side, but a lot has been improved and worked on under-the-hood. Some notable features include: notification dots, picture-in-picture mode, autofill framework along with several improvements to battery time and startup times. Nokia 3, 5 and 6 are already confirmed for the Android Oreo update. And with Nokia 8 out next month, we should see an Android 8.0 update for that as well.
Nokia Phones Android 8.0 Oreo Update by End of 2017
We have yet to get an official confirmation on the Nokia 8 Oreo update from HMD Global, but we know that Google is working on to bringing this update to OEMs. Here is an excerpt from the official Google blog post:
We’ve been working closely with our partners over the last many months, and by the end of this year, hardware makers like Essential, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, Motorola, HMD Global Home of Nokia Phones, Samsung, Sharp and Sony are scheduled to be launching or upgrading new devices to Android 8.0 Oreo.
That’s a lot of OEMs to work with, and we are glad HMD Global / Nokia Mobile is a part of the list. As per the above statements, we should expect Android 8.0 Oreo on the Nokia phones by the end of this year. Our best guess, Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will start getting the Android Oreo update by December 2017, followed by an update for the Nokia 8.
It is also expected that HMD will be launching two new Nokia phones with Android 8.0 — Nokia 2 and Nokia 7.
