Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update has been approved, and will be releasing to users globally in a few days. It was earlier said that the Nokia 3 will be receiving Android 7.1.1 at the end of August. However, we didn’t see any system update coming up, even though a security system update was just rolled out last week.
Juho Sarvikas, the product chief at HMD Global, took to Twitter a few hours back to announce that the Android 7.1.1 update for Nokia 3 has been approved and is ready for take off. HMD will be rolling out the Nougat update in phases over the next few days, to ensure quality and no Nokia 3 has issues.
Nokia 3 is powered with a MediaTek SoC and typically, devices with this processor rarely see any Android updates. We are glad Nokia is putting an effort to keep all their phones up-to-date with the latest Android software.
Here is the tweet from Juho Sarvikas:

This is in line with the promise by HMD Global of updating every Nokia phone with regular Android updates for two years. Once the Nougat update is rolled out, we can officially start waiting for the Android Oreo update on Nokia 3, 5 and 6.
Android 7.1.1 will bring app shortcuts, image inputs from keyboard, plenty of new emojis and much more under-the-hood improvements to your overall Android experience. Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 came with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, but Nokia 3 is yet to receive this update which was planned for the end of August.
Make sure you Nokia 3 is up-to-date till the August 2017 security patch. September 2017 security update could be included with the Android 7.1.1 update, but that all depends on HMD Global would want to handle it.
Let us know as soon as you start getting the Nokia 3 Android 7.1.1 update on your phone!
