We just received the new Nokia 5 September 2017 system update on my phone. This over-the-air (OTA) update brings the latest Google security patch 2017-09 as usual with the start of every new month. Just an hour back we reported that the update has started rolling out to a few users, and now looks like this is a global rollout for the Nokia 5 TA-1053 variant. This system update does not bring any new major features, just a regular monthly security patch.
Nokia 5 September 2017 security update can be downloaded from the link given below. We were able to pull the update.zip file from the phone and anyone who has not received this update can download and install this OTA update manually. September 2017 update does not bring Android Oreo, but we know that will happen some time in the coming months. This update is only live for the Nokia 5 for us, and should also arrive soon for the Nokia 6.
This system update is 142MB in size and we recommend installing this ASAP as you should not comprise with the security of your phone. The official changelog of the September 2017 update says:
- Update Google Security Patch 2017-09
There may be a few minor small bug fixes or changes in the system files, but nothing else has been mentioned in the update description.
