Nokia 8 October 2017 Security System Update Rolling Out Now

After the release for Nokia 6, Nokia 8 October 2017 security system update is now rolling out to users worldwide. Unlike the update Nokia 6 received, Nokia 8 is only receiving the Google security patch for this month. As per several reports, HMD Global will be skipping Android 7.1.2 Nougat update for the Nokia 8 for Oreo which should hit the device soon.

Not sure why HMD Global will skip Android 7.1.2 for the Nokia 8, but we are sure there must be reasons behind it. May be, Nokia 8 will be the first Nokia Android phone to receive Oreo as it was teased on Twitter a couple of weeks back. For more information on what is included / changed in Android 7.1.2, read the official changelog by Google.

Nokia 8 October 2017 OTA Update

As promised by HMD, all Nokia phones are being updated regularly with the latest available software updates. The next phones to receive the October 2017 system update will be the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.

  1. In my opinion, the OEM manufacturers are wasting a lot of work by releasing x.0.0 versions. Every major upgrade contain bugs (even the Android 7.1.2 has some bugs still).

On the user point of view, in case the latest x.0.0 version happens to remain the last upgrade, the user usually will be left with very buggy phone and it is not possible (for a typical user) to revert the OS back to the properly behaving (x-1).n.m version.
