December 2017 security system update is now rolling out for the Nokia 5. We can confirm as it has reached to a number of Nokia 5 (TA-1053) users worldwide. This update started was released a few days back, but was soon halted due to a reported RAM bug. Now that has been sorted out, HMD Global has started the roll out once again.
This latest December 2017 system update is just 111MB in size and doesn’t bring anything new other than the usual security patch. We have to mention to every time a big hats off to HMD Global for keeping all of their devices up-to-date with the latest Google security updates. Nokia phones are the only ones to be updated this regularly, before any other manufacturer does. Keep this up, HMD!
Back to the update, you should go to Settings > About phone > System updates to check for the update on your Nokia 5. If not, and like always, we will have a direct download link to the official OTA ZIP file soon on NokiaTips.com.
For those who are not aware, Nokia 5 (and Nokia 6) users can also sign up on Beta Labs to test out the upcoming Android 8.0 Oreo Beta update. It is completely free to try. Just make sure you do a back up of all your important data before trying out anything.
