You can now download Nokia 5 December 2017 system update (OTA ZIP file) for this phone. This OTA security update arrives after HMD Global opens up this phone for Android Oreo Beta testing. You do not really need the December 2017 patch installed, as Oreo Beta also works with the November Google security patch.
We received this December 2017 update on our Nokia 5 TA-1053 variant. And as per reports, it should also arrive on other variants available globally. Nothing new has been added in this update, as HMD wants to bring all the new features in the next major system update — Android 8.0 Oreo. If you haven’t, visit Beta Labs and sign up with your Nokia 5 for Android Oreo Beta.
This system update is 111 MB in size and we recommend installing this ASAP as you should not comprise with the security of your phone. The official changelog of the December 2017 update says:
- Update Google Security Patch 2017-12
There may be a few minor small bug fixes or changes in the system files, but nothing else has been mentioned in the update description.
