The latest January 2018 Google security update is now rolling out to Nokia 3 users. This is the first of Nokia phones to receiving this month’s security update, not counting the new build of Oreo Beta for Nokia 5. This looks like a small update with just the security changes and nothing else.
Not all Nokia 3 variants get updates at the same time. They are rolled out in phases, so you may or may not be receiving this January 2018 security update right away. However, you will still receive it over the next few days as an over-the-air update. To check right away, go to Settings > About phone > Check for updates.
As per Google, this has changed in the January 2018 Google security update:
Note: CVE-2017-5715, CVE-2017-5753, and CVE-2017-5754, a set of vulnerabilities related to speculative execution in processors, have been publicly disclosed. Android is unaware of any successful reproduction of these vulnerabilities that would allow unauthorized information disclosure on any ARM-based Android device.
To provide additional protection, the update for CVE-2017-13218 included in this bulletin reduces access to high-precision timers, which helps limits side channel attacks (such as CVE-2017-5715, CVE-2017-5753, and CVE-2017-5754) of all known variants of ARM processors.

Nokia 3 is still on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It was earlier rumoured that this phone will receive Android 7.1.2 update in the coming weeks, but HMD Global will be rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo directly.
For those waiting for this update, we will soon have the update ZIP package for you to download and install on your Nokia 3.
