As we come closer to MWC 2018, a document has leaked showing HMD Global’s Penta Lens prototype that will supposedly appear on the Nokia 10. In the talks of dual lens camera systems and Google surprising everyone with its outshining single lens setup, HMD Global is trying to implement a 5 lens camera on a smartphone. Yes, you read that right, a 5-lens camera system! Already, the camera modules on Nokia flagships feature ZEISS glass and it is no doubt that HMD Global will be in the races for the best camera on a smartphone of 2018. Continue reading to see the actual leaked Penta Lens prototype document for the Nokia 10 as well as our thoughts on the smartphone itself.
The first flagship we saw from HMD Global came in the form of Nokia 8. And as with recent announcements, Nokia will be releasing a higher spec-ed smartphone which, hopefully, would be named Nokia 9 at MWC 2018. Now, the Nokia 10 places itself above the Nokia 9, this means it is expected around late 2018 hence there is a large time-space in between for further development. We recommend you take this news with a pinch of salt as this might not end up on the final product. Find the prototype design document for Nokia 10 Penta Lens camera right ahead.
The document above places 8 circles on the smartphone. If we translate the Chinese, the document states that there will be a fingerprint sensor on the back (found at the center), LED light (top left circle), an undeclared sensor (top right circle) and lastly, the 5 cameras in a round orientation.
Apart from the astonishing Penta Lens prototype, there has been news of Snapdragon 845 chipset on the Nokia 10 and a bezel-less 18:9 display. On paper, with the information we have till now, this is turning out to be a smartphone to look forward to, especially for the pro-sumers. Lastly, we would like to add, this Penta Lens setup might seem absurd and illogical at first but Nokia is known for pulling off stunts like this. Remember the Lumia phone with a 41MegaPixel sensor?
