HMD Global’s flagship phone, the Nokia 8 is now recieving Android 8.1 Oreo Beta Update through the beta labs program. The update was announced by HMD Global’s CPO, Juho Sarvikas, through a tweet. Jokingly, while highlighting the 8.1 Oreo version upgrade, Juho remarked that the hamburger emoji fix with cheese being on top of the patty is the most important addition – we agree as well! The smartphone will receive this as its first Android version upgrade since its launch. Further, users can immediately try the new Android 8.1 Oreo Beta build on the Nokia 8 by signing up on Beta Labs.
The new firmware should give noticeably better performance and should also address bugs that were present in previous builds. Further, this is a Beta build which means it would have some bugs on its own but you should definitely give it a shot. And as always, if you don’t like it, you can return to the last stable build on your Nokia 8.
As this is being released at the tail-end of January 2018, the Android 8.1 Oreo Beta for Nokia 8 also arrives with January 2018 security patch.
We have also attached the official tweet from Juho Sarvikas right below:
