HMD Global has revised the pricing of two of its smartphones in India – Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 – right ahead of MWC 2018. This new development shows that new sequels are imminent. Originally, the Nokia 5 was launched at INR 13,499 which has been slashed to INR 12,499 and the Nokia 8 was originally sold for INR 36,999 and now it is available for INR 28,999.
The Nokia 5 hasn’t come down in price as aggressively as the Nokia 8 which received a rounded-off 20% cut. These price cuts surely indicate that the brand will soon discontinue these smartphones and replace them with newer versions.
For 2018, HMD Global is promising a much more exciting year compared with 2017. By excitement, we assume, the company is referring to the number of smartphones it will be announcing. For now, the brand has only released Nokia 6 2018 for China, soon to be launched globally during MWC 2018. Also, we are expecting a new flagship called the Nokia 9 and much more. These price-cuts in India only cement the rumors that are brewing.
MWC (Mobile World Congress) will be held at the end of this month and during the event, brands like HMD Global will take to stage their latest products. The hard thing is coming up with something unique that doesn’t get drowned down by other smartphone announcements taking place at the very same event.
In the build-up to MWC 2018, Indian customers can now enjoy Nokia smartphones at a cheaper price-point. Would you be waiting for the new phones to come out or you would be purchasing the Nokia 5 or Nokia 8 at these prices? Talk to us in the comments!
