Nokia 8 is now receiving latest Android 8.1 Oreo firmware from HMD Global. The brand’s flagship smartphone from 2017 has been upgraded to the latest available Android revision. Before this, users could only test out the 8.1 Oreo firmware with Beta Labs. Now that the update is official and final as well, all Nokia 8 customers would be able to upgrade to it. The changes in the new build are more focused towards refinement rather than providing any new major feature. Further, HMD Global has done few of their own changes like additions to its built-in apps and services.
Android 8.1 Oreo build for Nokia 8 also brings with itself the latest security patch – February 2018. The important aspect to keep in view here is, HMD Global gives preference to its high-end devices first. There is no other phone in HMD’s lineup that is receiving Android 8.1 Oreo right now, making the Nokia 8 the first one to do so.
Nokia 8 Android 8.1 Oreo Update Details:
As discussed, this new firmware brings a number of changes to the overall OS but all of these changes are minor and more focused towards improving what Android 8.0 Oreo originally set out to do. The most notable changes come in the form of better battery performance, notification improvements, slightly tweaked UI and, in the case of this update specifically, February 2018 security definitions.
The roll out has started and users have already started to report this update pop up on their devices. However, as the update is staged, you might or might not be able to immediately see Android 8.1 Oreo firmware arrive on your Nokia 8. We will soon be publishing a complete OTA package download article which you can use to then manually flash and skip the wait.
