Nokia 5 from HMD Global is now getting February 2018 Security update. After announcing the same security update for Nokia 2, 3 , 5 and 8, the company has successfully brought all of its current lineup up to date. It is definitely a remarkable feat and also a rare one. The changes in this update aren’t anything major but it does bring improvements to performance along with the update to security definitions. Ahead, we will discuss the changes and list the official changelog as well.
The update would be released in phases, just like all other firmware updates. This indicates that some users might be able to see it pop up immediately while others would have to wait a bit more. Soon, we also expect HMD Global to release Android 8.1 Oreo upgrade as it has just finished updating the Nokia 8.
Nokia 5 February 2018 Security Update – Changes:
The major change is obviously the upgraded security patch but along with that, optimizations have been made behind the scenes to further enhance performance. The update size is at 154.8MB.
As for the February 2018 security patch itself, it addresses a major vulnerability in Media Framework. This vulnerability, as declared by Google, allowed a remote attacker to utilize a specially crafted file in order to execute arbitrary code.
